United Kingdom prohibits commercial surrogacy but allows surrogacy which is done out of compassion or for non- profit purposes, though reasonable expenses are allowed to surrogate under the provisions of Surrogacy arrangements act, 1985. However, no specific definition for reasonable expenses exists.
British couples may consider surrogacy abroad, as it is legally accepted and relatively affordable in many countries.
Among the countries where law permits commercial surrogacy, finding surrogate mothers in India is least cumbersome.
