Fertility Charting in India |

Watch a reputed surrogacy specialist explain Basal Body Temperature (BBT) charting, and the need to do it. It is the use of such modern techniques that has made commercial surrogacy in India become steadily popular over the years.
A Basal body temperature (BBT) is the lowest body temperature in a 24-hour period. The best time to take it is when you first wake up in the morning. Before your start your day, pop a basal thermometer into your mouth. The specialty of this kind of thermometer is that it can show the minute changes in temperature, which other thermometers cannot. But, it is important to wake up at the same time every morning. This helps a women know her ovulation time and thus, boost chances of conceiving.
Following is the video narration: “BBT charting is done only in very specific conditions, where the patient either does not have a uterus or has a uterus whose endometrial lining is scarred and there are no menses — the woman does not menstruate at all.
“Then in such cases to time the onset of hormonal tests, or to time the start of injections, we need to know what is day one or two of her cycle. And here you have a device called a basal body thermometer, which is used at the beginning of the day as soon as the woman gets up. Before she does any activity, this thermometer is used by her and the temperature recorded on a chart. She does that for a couple of months, till we get a pattern that tells us when the woman ovulated and when is the day one or two of her cycle.
“Once we get to plan her cycle on a couple of BBT charts, then we can do her hormonal test and start the medications as we would do to a normal patient.”
